We're currently looking at adding some self-led walks, with map and directions, to our Area website. This might be using our own content or by linking to an external free resource with over 500 quality walks in South East England.
The purpose is to attract more visits to the website and use the opportunity to encourage joining the Ramblers.
A member of the Area Council has asked whether promoting our own routes, or an external site via links, might be perceived by Central Office as being in competition with our own Ramblers Routes scheme.
Most Ramblers Routes, of course, are only available to members so do not suit our purpose.
I know that many, many, group and area sites have their own library of walks so I presume that this is not considered a problem. Any thoughts?
