Google Analytics 4 was created by Nick Prudden
I recently had an email from Google Analytics, advising me that Google Analytics 4 is replacing Universal Analytics (i.e. the version of Analytics that has been available from around 2012), and that they will begin to "sunset" Universal Analytics in 2023, so that it will record no new hits from 1st July 2023.
Has anyone investigated what switching to Google Analytics 4 will entail for those of us using the standard Joomla 3 / Gantry Template setup?
At present, you enter the UA code supplied when you create the Google Analytics account in the appropriate field in the Templates Manager / Edit Style / Features tab, as described in this support article: www.ramblers-webs.org.uk/general/usage.html
However, I'm almost sure that the UA code is specific to Universal Analytics, and is beng replaced with a "G-" ID for Google Analytics 4. Google has a support article for how to work around this, see here: support.google.com/analytics/answer/10447272 . However, there is no specific guidance for Joomla.
