When my site was setup by Ramblers-webs it had Joomla 3.2.1 installed.

I just tried to upgrade it to Joomla 3.2.2 using the Joomla Update component as documented here .

This just gave me the unhelpful error message "An error has occurred".

The Control Panel screen does not seem to recognise the installed version of Joomla and just shows "Unknown Joomla!" at the bottom.

Is there something non standard about the Joomla installation done by Ramblers-webs?

I have successfully upgraded to Joomla 3.2.2 by going to Extension Manager: Install and "Install from URL" and giving it the URL of the package zip file on this page.

The question is why was the Joomla Update component unable to recognise the installed Joomla version, alert me to an updated version being available and install it?
